Energy Vampires are the most know vampires of them all!

Energy Vampires, Drainers - whatever you want to call them, but they zap your energy and leave you feeling drained and exhausted.

I found there are 4 major drainers - what are they and what do you do about them?

People

Whether they are the drama queens (my boyfriend has left me….), the egomaniacs (it's all about me, me and then me) or the dependents (I need constant reassurance, and I'm not your child). You find them in all shapes and sizes, but you know them, because when you've finished a conversation, you feel like you need a lie down!

So how to handle them?

Always be kind, but if you feel you're getting sucked in, then be short and clear you're not comfortable talking about whatever.

Try and understand where they are coming from and acknowledge what they say is important.

Be positive and give good constructive feedback to them.

Remember kindness is always the key.

Your Body

Whether it's drinking too much coffee or alcohol, eating too much fast food, staying up too late - not enough sleep, not drinking enough water, not exercising or excising too much.

How we treat our bodies could mean serious health consequences, yet we continue to ignore what we are telling ourselves.

Being kind to our bodies and giving it what it really needs is one of the best ways of keeping our energy up.

Your environment

The way you choose your environment has a significant impact on your energy. Often a noisy, messy environment can sap our energy, unfinished projects both at work and at home can sap you too.

What to do

a good clear out of all your clutter is a great start.

Donate clothes, unfinished projects, make room in your life for something new.

Your thought life

Negative thoughts about ourselves, that self-talk which is a constant in our thoughts, if it's negative can bring with it anxiety, worry and stress. It's been known to bring on physical pain and ailments

What to do

When you catch those negative thoughts, replace immediately with a positive thought.
